GOGREEN in Style!

Bare windows can allow 40% of heated air to escape

& can decrease air conditioning efficiency by 20%...

Layering fabric at the window prevents energy loss.

Natural woven wood shades provide a base layer at

the window, line them for maximum energy savings.

Our easiest Panels ever! 3 layers hang free - flannel

innerlining provides insulation and creates a sumptuous look.

Roll-Up or Roman Shades are double lined and mounted

close to the window, to trap hot or cold air.

DESCRIPTION

VIEW A — Thermal Roll-up Shade is lined with drapery lining and an additional layer of lightweight flannel innerlining for added insulation when the shade is lowered.  When rolled up, contrast center ties hold the treatment in place.  A decorative expandable rod inserted into a rod pocket at the shade bottom adds weight to the shade and a designer touch.  Your fabric width determines the width of the shade you can make as there is no seaming — see Fabric Requirement Chart for size range.  The Shade length can be varied by adjusting ties.  Shade is easily stapled to a 1″ X 2″ (2.5cm X 5cm) pine mounting board that fits snug against the window for further energy savings.

VIEW B — Insulated Roman Shade is lined with drapery lining and an additional layer of lightweight flannel innerlining for added insulation when shade is lowered.  Decorative trim forms a band effect along the sides and bottom edge. Shade Valance is 6″ (15cm) deep and is self lined, with side rows of trim to coordinate with the shade.   The shade back features rows of plastic rings threaded with Roman shade cording, enabling shade to be raised and lowered. Your fabric width determines the width shade and valance you can make as there is no seaming — see Fabric Requirement Charts for size range.  Shade and Valance are easily stapled to a 1″ X 2″ (2.5cm X 5cm) pine mounting board that fits snug against the window for further energy savings.

VIEW C — Blocked Panels are made from three layers of fabric that hang separately for speedy sewing. The top layer features two contrasting fabrics, the middle innerlining layer is soft flannel or “bump” cloth which provides insulation, and the bottom layer features insulated or regular drapery lining for further thermal savings.  All layers hang separately and are secured together with tabs; each tab is highlighted with a decorative button.  When closed, the panels become an excellent insulation barrier, trapping cold and heat.  This treatment is mounted on a decorative rod/pole and can be made for windows 30-100″ (76-250cm) wide.

VIEW D — Easy Foldover Flounce Panel features three layers of fabric that hang separately for speedy sewing.  The top layer folds over to form the flounce, the middle innerlining layer is soft flannel or “bump” cloth which provides insulation, and the bottom layer features contrast lining for added energy savings.  The contrast fabric also forms a border effect along the edge of the panel. All layers are secured together with drapery hooks which attach to rings on a decorative rod. The panel is pulled to the side and draped over a decorative tieback holder, yet when closed will seal windows 30-48″ (76-122cm) wide.

SUGGESTED FABRICS:

GOING GREEN TIP:  Choose light weight upholstery or quilted fabric for added insulation.  Think eco-friendly when selecting fabrics — look for organic cottons and silks, recycled fabrics made from plastic that would otherwise end up in a landfill, or even lovely vintage finds.

ALL VIEWS:    Decorator fabrics such as cottons, linens, cotton/polyester blends.  Silks and silk-like polyester fabrics can also be used.

VIEW C:  Select an additional contrast fabric for bottom block.

SUGGESTED DRAPERY LINING:

VIEW A Shade or VIEW D:  Entire shade or panel is lined in contrast fabric.  We suggest selecting a solid fabric as prints or stripes may show through the front of the treatment when light comes through the window.

VIEW B Shade or VIEW C Panels:  Select a white or colored drapery lining fabric or an insulated lining.  Sun resistant or water resistant linings are recommended.

VIEW B Valance:  Valance is self-lined in FACE fabric.  Fabric requirement chart for valance includes self lining.

SUGGESTED INNERLINING:

Our directions include optional innerlining for GOING GREEN - it's your choice. Select a lightweight flannel* or heavier weight flannel “bump” cloth for maximum insulation at the window.  White or off-white flannels will still allow some light through.  To darken the room, select a black flannel to block out light.

* View A or B Shades:  Select lightweight flannel only.  Bump cloth is too thick for shades.

PURCHASE LINING and INNERLINING SAME WIDTH AS FACE FABRIC, IF AVAILABLE.
