Panels with Angled Trim

Description

Easy Drapery Panels feature five two-fold pleats evenly spaced across the top edge of each panel. All panels are made from one width of fabric per side of the window. You have the option of lining the panels with drapery lining only or adding an additional layer of flannel interlining if working with a silk fabric. Interlining gives drapes made from all fabrics a luxurious look and feel with the added benefit of protecting delicate silk fabrics from sun damage. All panels are mounted on a decorative pole with rings.

View A panels are stationary, meaning they are meant to hang at the sides of the window for a decorative look. Separate Swags lined in drapery lining and Side Tails lined in the decorator fabric or a contrast fabric hook onto the pole rings over the panels. This view looks best on window widths from 30–80" (75–200cm).

View B or C panels feature decorative trim positioned across the panels creating a mock valance look. Panels can be closed for privacy on window widths up to 44" (110cm) wide, but can also be used as decorative panels on window widths from 30–80" (75–200cm).

Instructions are written for decorator fabrics, lining and interlining that are 54" (140cm) wide only.

Fabric Store:

  • Decorator Fabric – Select a 54" (140cm) wide solid or print fabric. Be sure to read the next section on Selecting Fabric and Trims before purchasing.
  • Lining – Select a 54" (140cm) wide white or off-white drapery lining fabric. Sun resistant or water resistant linings are recommended.
  • Interlining – For silk panels or optional for all other fabrics to make panels luxuriously full and durable, select a 54" (140cm) wide flannel interlining cloth.
  • Decorative Trim – This is what we’ve featured on the pattern envelope: View A- Bullion fringe trim, View B – Tassel fringe trim and View C – Feather trim. You can add a decorative trim of your choice to any of the views. Read section on Trims that follows to learn more.
  • Thread – Select one that closely matches the background color of the decorator fabric.
  • Optional – Specially formulated fabric glue for gluing trim to treatment – our favorite method!

Home Center:

  • A decorative pole or rod to fit width of window plus 8" (20cm)
  • 2 decorative pole or rod finials
  • 14 decorative pole or rod rings
  • 2 pole or rod brackets
  • 1–1/2" (3.75cm) pin-on drapery hooks - 12 for drapery panels, 6 additional for View A Swags and Tails

Selecting Fabrics & Trims

Suggested Decorator Fabrics: Pure silk* or silk-like polyester fabrics look especially elegant. Mid-weight home décor fabrics such as cottons and cotton blends, linens, velvets, jacquards or other similar weaves work well. Lightweight upholstery fabrics or lightweight cotton blends can also be used.

*Interlining is necessary for silk fabrics to prevent sun damage to the delicate silk fibers – see previous Shopping List.
